Soooooo….It’s been a while.
Sorry for the lack of posts (if any of you care) but I had a week away in sunny Cyprus and to be honest I just wanted to relax and get away from working and blogging – but I was obviously looking through social media as that’s just a given when you’re lying on a beach!
Before I went away I ordered some cheap MUA make up bits, just because I was curious to see if they were any good and live up to some of the cheaper brands out there.
I bought 4 items and the total came to just £11.50! Which is pretty insane. I bought a highlighter stick, a concealer wand, a velvet lip colour and a blusher/powder.
So here’s my thoughts on each product….
I actually really like this product. Although it says it’s velvet, I’m not too sure how that’s meant to look, but I’d say it has a nice matt finish. The thing I really like about this lipstick is that it applies really well, it dries really quickly and it is not sticky AT ALL! It is actually one of the best consistencies I’ve tried in a liquid lipstick so I really rate it. Also the colour is a lovely dark pinky brown colour. I’d highly recommend this one and for £3 you can’t really go wrong!
So everyone (well a lot of people) raves about the collection liquid concealer which I must admit is a brilliant concealer and it’s a reasonable price of £4. With that in mind I though, okay this is £1.50 lets just give this a go, and I didn’t really have a high hopes if I’m honest.
Honestly… I was really hoping I’d found another little gem in this product. But it really is awful! It is so watery and when you apply it to your skin you can hardly see it. Although it’s really really cheap, it’s not worth your time or money at all. For all those collection lovers, stick with that one for now on ha!
I am becoming a bit obsessed with buying highlighters and shimmers at the moment, and luckily enough you can pick up some good ones for a great price (If you want to check out a previous post on my highlighter review, find it here).
This one at £3.00 isn’t that bad, but I’d say it’s not that pigmented compared to the likes of the Primark highlight palette or the blushing hearts one. It does give a nice pinky shimmer and if you’re looking for a subtle glow then this may be worth a go as it is a nice subtle glow when applied on the top of your cheekbones.
I really like this product! The only other stick highlighter I have is the Benefit Watt’s Up one and that is pretty expensive for a highlighter. This one is a pretty decent dupe and leaves a nice bronze shimmer rather than a blush shimmer. It is much more pigmented than the powder one I mentioned above, and you only need one swipe to get a lot of product on your cheek, and I just use a blending sponge to blend it in!
Out of all the bits I picked up from MUA, I’d say I like 2 out of 4. The highlight stick and the liquid lipstick are two great products and for that price they’re a must to try!
These are the first make up items I’ve bought from MUA and I am happy to try a few more seeing as the price isn’t too bad at all!
Have you tried any MUA products? What are your favourite cheap makeup brands?
