Reasons I Started Blogging

Hey everyone!

I hope you’ve all had a lovely week and enjoyed the sunshine this weekend!

I’ve had quite a busy one, so I am now happy to be chilling at home and will no doubt be in bed any time soon.

I wanted to write this post because actually I don’t know the reasons why others started their blog, and it made me start to think why I started mine.

To be honest, I only really started reading blogs when I was in my first year at Uni, and I always thought wow, what these people do are amazing and I always looked up to those who could create a website, take such amazing pictures and write engaging, funny content.

It was since then I new about blogging, but NEVER thought I would ever own my own platform, it’s still weird to think about now.

I actually wrote my first blog post essentially when I was interning for a children’s charity as they had recently upgraded their website and it had a blog feature (YAY). I wrote a few of their first blog posts, and I really enjoyed it and got a great response from people both in the organisation and the visitors of the website.

It was then I started to research about starting my own blog and it all went from there really.

I decided I wanted to keep my posts open so I could write about what I wanted with reason, but it has lead to being more beauty as that is what I’m interested in, as well as fashion and general lifestyle.

I also wanted to start a blog for experience and something to add to my portfolio of experiences. Eventually when I start moving on in my career, I’d like to think this blog will give me the competitive edge over someone who hasn’t done anything like this.

I have gotten to know some amazing like-minded bloggers from doing this in just 5 months and it has been so worth it. I really hope to be doing this in the future and my main aim is to enjoy it then as much as I do now!

Why did you start blogging? I’d really like to know your motivations behind starting your blog?

This was such a lovely read. I started blogging a while after I started an Instagram account where I took beauty photos. I’ve always loved writing, since I was 11 years old. Especially creative writing, writing stories and short stories and all of that. But i also have that non-fiction side of writing I loved but i didn’t know what to do with it. So after I started an Instagram account about beauty products and it took off I realised I could combine my love of beauty and makeup with my love for writing.

I started blogging because I don’t have any friends to share the passion that I have for makeup, so I wanted something that I could talk about it, and bloggling is perfect for that!

Love reading about why other people have started blogging
I’d been blogging on and off since 2011, never really stuck to it for more that a couple of weeks because I was quite shy about promoting it. As I’ve got more confidence with age I decided to just go for it and not be worried if someone I know sees it.
Basically I’ve just always loved reading blogs and after changing jobs from a creative role to something much less creative I thought I was time to start a blog again. So happy I have too.

It’s great to get to know why other bloggers started their blogs, some people still ask me is it just to get free stuff! I started my blog about 18 months ago over on Blogger but swapped to WordPress in October 2016. I’d always shared outfit shots or things I’d bought on FB page but soon realized this wasn’t the place for it. I’d already been reading blogs and admiring Bloggers work, then decided to have a go myself. It still surprises me when people read my posts, although I’m so proud of my little space on the internet.

I started blogging because I too found out about the blogging world many years ago now and always thought how amazing peoples blogs were. I love writing and taking photos but never thought I would be able to blog because I always felt like, what’s the point, no one would want to read my posts. But then I decided I wanted to blog because it would be something I enjoyed, whether others read it or not and so here I am ☺️ It’s a great hobby and I love writing about products I like or don’t like, or a recipe I really love. xx
