Why I Cancelled My GLOSSYBOX Subscription

Hey everyone!

I thought I’d write this post as I have realised something about myself and this has lead me on to write this post for you.

So in February, I decided to sign up to one of the many beauty box subscriptions out there, Glossybox.

Don’t get me wrong, I really like discovering new beauty products from brands I may have never heard of before. Also, they really are a good idea, and Glossybox has been brilliant in providing me with lots of new products to try and test.

The only thing is, I NEVER use them! I literally have two boxed still sitting in my car. Whenever I opened them I used to get excited about opening the box and finding out what little gems would be inside and I was always really impressed.

I think the problem is, unless you’re setting out to get a product you really want, other products you get just seem to get forgotten about, so in a way it was a bit of a waste of money for me 🙁

I really thought I’d love these and use the products all the time, but I can honestly say, I never really touched them which was such a shame and therefore a waste of money so I cancelled my subscription last month.

After all this, I realised I’m one of those who is easily influenced by interesting ideas and instantly needs to jump on the bandwagon and try it! I think next time I will think a little bit more before buying on impulse!

What are your thoughts on beauty boxes? Is there one that you are loving at the moment?

Love,

Rebecca xx

omg you’re just like me, haha I am always leaving orders in my car because I just don’t need them!

this is similar to my Just Fab shoe subscription, it ends up being wasted money – even though the products are still lovely.

Ah I’m glad I’m not the only one that leaves them in their car! It just seemed like a waste of money if I wasn’t going to actually use the products x

This post is actually so interesting and so true sometimes for me too! I love my Glossybox, I’m always excited to open it every month and see what’s inside but a lot of the time I do forget about some products too. I’ve started making a point of putting the products out where my makeup is or where my everyday skincare is to make sure I try them! But unless I do really like the look of something, sometimes I don’t use them at all! But I guess it’s hit and miss with each box. I’m so addicted to my subscription though and nearly at 1000 Glossydots, I don’t think I can cancel!

I think that’s what I needed to do, actually get the products out of the box and put them by my make up so I made sure I used them. I’m glad you’re enjoying them and wow you’ve got lots of glossydots 😍 Thank you for reading lovely xx

I’m with you on wanting to jump on the bandwagon. I have to fight myself to really think before I get all wrapped up in the hype!

I had Glossybox and Birchbox for a while a couple of years back and at first I really loved getting and using the products, but I found as time went on I was ending up with more and more products that I didn’t actually like and have a use for, so in the end I cancelled. I recently decided I wanted to try a subscription again and after quite a bit of research went with the You Beauty Box, which is really good value for money and you get to choose what arrives in the box which gets rid of the disappointment I was getting with the Glossybox. So far I’m loving it!

I love trying new products from Ipsy, but if you don’t use them then I can definitely see why you wouldn’t want to keep paying for a subscription!

I agree, you often get odds and ends that you won’t use, I don’t bother with the whole reviewing the box thing either as pretty much everyone has seen/used box offerings if I find a product in the box that’s particularly great I may review it. I subscribe to LF beauty box and I’m currently using some creams that I like but again I have loads I’ve not touched, face/hair masks etc. Don’t seem to have the time! 📦 ☹️😏😩My daughter does okay out of it haha x

Yeah I agree, It’s kind of all new to me so I thought I’d give it a go and I think some of the products would be really good but like you said its just having the time to try new products! Yes she mush do, she’s one lucky girl xx

I’m not too keen on beauty boxes as I’d much rather just buy what I like but I suppose it’s a great way to discover new brands
